Welcome to the 5th tower on the growing list of tallest towers that I’ve been to! Taipei 101 is the tallest one yet as it currently stands highest in the world! *.* It houses the Taipei 101 Mall (a 5-story mall packed with luxury brands, flagship stores, bookstores and restaurants), an indoor observatory (89F) and an outdoor observatory (91F) which I think everyone who’s planning to go to Taipei must see.
The designer of Taipei 101 took inspiration from a humble bamboo stalk in designing this for it being strong, flexible and hollow. This tower is supposed to withstand any strong typhoons that may come. It has eight nodes that’s considered a lucky number in their culture.
Colorful tiled walls outside Taipei 101.
Spot Din Tai Fung!
I know we have Din Tai Fung back home but I still wanted to check if the ones where it came from is any different.
The line wasn’t as long as I expected. Probably because t’was a weekday.
Where the magic happens! Xiao Long Bao is my fave dimsum!
YAAAAS!~ Taste the same, hahaha!
Taiwanese delicacies available at the ground floor! I honestly didn’t go around the mall that much ’cause I wanted to spare my mom from all the walking. We just checked what’s on this floor and went ahead to the observatory.
SPAO x EXO. The EXO phenomenon is strong here.
Oh hi, Yoona! <3 Such a pretty girl!
H:Connect is a Korean brand that is one to check out. It has about the same price range with Mixxo, but has better quality in my opinion! Loved the browns in this ambiance!
Sooo cute! <3
Time to see the view!
A distraction just before heading up! Interesting stuff here but no time for that, lol.
When you buy a ticket (600NT – so expensive!) to the observatory, they will give you a Mango ChaCha discount coupon! I tried the Mango Shaved Ice in Ximending already and personally prefer our local mangoes so I didn’t try this. Hehe!
Ohai, angkong and ama! HAHA
Cool ceiling lights. Spot Taichung!
Some Taiwan must-sees.
Fastest lift in the world! 36 seconds to get to the 89th floor! Amazing. We’re getting close to teleportation!
The blue tint made everything look relaxing. Ahh, Taipei is beautiful.
It’s so nice to travel on a weekday!
You can see how the greens are still dominant in this city.
Taiwan continues to develop. I saw several buildings under construction!
Zoom in Sim City.
This area reminds me so much of Sim City!
Find the flower *.*
View from the 91st floor! WOW. It’s like I’m on a plane! It was drizzling unfortunately.
This close to the top which is the 106th floor!
Back on the 89th, there’s an 86 Shop! YAAAY!
The current Korean lip tint cult fave! Labiotte! I have one of these. Super pigmented! It smells and tastes like grapes! It is quite expensive for a lip tint, though.
Some bestselling Korean skincare products. That Rilakkuma packaging, though.
Song Joong Ki face mask! I should’ve bought some for my SJK-obsessed friends! I got some of the NMF face masks ’cause I heard that they’re good!
But My Beauty Diary is still the best for me! It’s everywhere. O.O Better hoard them! I have yet to try Korea’s best, Papa Recipe, though. T-beauty VS K-beauty? Let’s see! Lol.
Surprised to see this on the shelf. K-beauty influence is strong! They were on sale but I’m satisfied with my more affordable CosRX Pimple (as my toner). Gonna stick with that for now!
Taipei 101 souvenirs! Their mascott is adorable!
Taipei 101 or I.O.I.? So sad that the latter is disbanding. T_T
Left my mom inside to rest. Found out that there’s actually a GU store nearby! LOVE GU!
Bikes for rent! Wish I had someone who’s willing to bike around the city with me. Next time!
5 mins of walk will take you to this mall.
Att4fun! Wuhoo! The collections were very F/W, though, so I ended up only shopping at GU. Got so excited so no store pics here. If it helps, there’s Pull and Bear, Forever 21, GU, Gap and Bershka in this mall.
There’s Watsons inside, too. #priorities
Time to get my mom! I heard the view of Taipei 101 at Elephant Mountain or Xiang Shan is really nice. Since it was a station away, we decided to check it out.
Get ready to do a lot of walking! The hiking trail is about 10mins away from the station. Better wear something comfy.
Elephant Mountain Hiking Trail! I underestimated it since I used to do a lot of hiking in Colorado. Made me realize two things: 1) I need to exercise more 2) I should’ve worn hiking appropriate clothes.
It’s amazing how there’s something like this in the middle of the city! This area is so quiet.
And there you have it! Taipei 101 really stands out. Wish those buildings in front weren’t there, though. LOL!
It took about a thousand steps. Perfect place to earn some Fitbit steps.
View from below.
Time to go back to our hotel. I got so tired after all those steps. O.O I was losing breath!
