All About BB Creams

by farrah

If I didn’t have to wear makeup for work, my daily routine would still include putting on some bb cream before going out. I absolutely love bb creams. I used to hate putting makeup on and I’ve never really liked foundations or pressed powders. Bb creams are so amazing because they’re super easy to put on and they can instantly enhance your skin!

Choosing the right bb cream is the key to instantly look like your kpop idol. There are three things to consider when choosing the perfect bb cream for you: the coverage, the shade and the finish.

Let me show you my most recent bb cream collection!

I have a combination of oily and dry skin. It is mostly dry but gets oily around the t-zone. If you have the same skin-type, you may want to try the bb creams below.

1  Kanebo Freshel Pore Cover BB Cream

Kanebo is one of the top makeup brands in Japan. I use this bb cream a lot for work.

As I have said, my t-zone gets greasy during the latter half of the day. This bb cream helps a lot in avoiding that to happen since it has a semi-matte finish. It has medium coverage and comes in very natural shades, natural beige and medium beige- see what I mean? Lol. As for the pore cover part, I don’t know what to say because most bb creams cover pores really well. I have no complaints with regards to this.

If your shade in Korean bb creams is 21 or lighter, the natural beige shade is the right one for you. This bb cream leaves a soft cottony finish. You can get this at SM and Wellworth department stores. *v*

2   Nature Republic Botanical Mandarin BB Cream

Nature Republic is one of my favorite Korean cosmetic brands! From the photo above, you can easily say that I love this bb cream. This was my every day bb cream until summer started. Like most Korean bb creams, this has a dewy finish so I don’t suggest using this when it’s hot and humid. The Nature Republic Botanical bb cream comes in two types: Mandarin and Green Tea. Green tea is believed to be good for oily skin while Mandarin is for dry skin.  Both come in 2 shades: 21 and 23. These are available at Nature Republic stores and Wellworth department stores.

3   Ettusais Mineral BB Cream and BB Mineral White

All I can say is that Ettusais has the best bb creams ever! A small amount of this can go a long way. It easily covers up anything and leaves a really pretty finish. The BB Mineral White basially has higher SPF and brightens skin instantly. It gives extra glow. On normal days, the mineral bb cream is just as amazing! Both leave a really soft finish. Unfortunately, you can only buy them online if you live in the Philippines. They’re quite pricey compared to most bb creams so if you have a friend going to Japan, I say grab that chance!

They come in shades 10 and 20 a.k.a. 21 and 23. Lol. I love Ettusais!

4   Laneige BB Cushion Pore Cover

Wuhooo! This is like the holy grail among my collection. I’m still super amazed how awesome bb cushions are. I love this one from Laneige. I chose the pore cover because anything that says “pore cover” is usually mattifying. This bb cushion gives a pretty glow on my skin without overdoing it. Meaning, I still get that dewy finish but don’t end up greasy at the end of the day. Just dab it all over your skin gently and voila! Instant ganda! Park Shin Hye levels! Lol. I wasn’t really that interested in bb cushions until my friend, Crissey, told me about how true this product’s claims were.

The packaging is too pretty! <3 This comes in 4 different shades: 13, 14 , 21 and 23. You can get this at any Laneige stores. Got mine from the SM Aura branch.

And that’s it for my growing bb cream collection. Out of all the bb creams that I’ve tried, these are by far the best! I swear! Next, I want to try is the Holika Holika Aqua Petit BB Cream! Been hearing good things about it. I will post a review once I get my hands on it.  What’s your favorite?

P.S.if you want your bb creams to last longer, you might want to apply primer first! *wink

The Laneige BB Cushion is my holy grail product too! It may be a little expensive compared to the others but its finish is just perfect! Given your tip on primers, what primer/s do you use, Ate Farrah? 🙂 Just curious cause maybe that’ll make my bb last longer!

Currently using Face Shop’s Velvet Skin Primer. Most Korean primers are dewy which isn’t very ideal for a humid country like ours. 🙁 Still looking for a good matte primer.
